RESPECT OUR NEIGHBORHOOD

Trash and Behavior in Public Spaces

We have received numerous complaints from our neighbors that trash is being left on public benches and picnic tables in the parks near our school. Some neighbors have also witnessed our students throwing trash in bushes and even people's front doors along the sidewalks.

Neighbors and business owners have also complained that students are using inappropriate language in their restaurants and in the park and neighborhood when little children and elderly people are around.

THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE BEHAVIOR!!!Please remember the Golden Rule:Treat others that way you would like to be treated. This goes for property as well.

Remember, having open campus during lunch is a privilege and we trust that students will represent themselves and our school with pride and their best behavior.

  • Please throw away trash into garbage cans (not pet poop containers). If garbage cans are full, bring your trash with you into campus and find a garbage can that is not full.
  • Use appropriate language and volume in businesses and public areas. No cussing, yelling, and use of derogatory language.
  • Follow pedestrian laws at all times, especially on neighborhood walkways and sidewalk. Do not ride your bikes, scooters, and skateboards on walkways, and give the right of way to pedestrians. This is for your safety and the safety of others.

If these issues do not improve in the next week, we willclosethe campus during lunch and all students must remain on campus until further notice.

Parents, please talk to your child about appropriate public behavior. Thank you for your support and cooperation.

CYBERBULLYING & SEXUAL HARASSMENT

Student Behavior on Social Media

Parents and students have brought to our attention that there are social media sites, including Instagram and Discord threads, that are intended to disrespect and harass other students. Some of the language and images being used can also be considered Sexual Harassment (talking about other's body parts and sexual activity). This type of activity goes against our EHS Graduate Aims ofCourage, Character, Compassion, Critical Learning, and Community.

Specific Instagram accounts that we are aware of include: @whydidyouredeemit and @self.rehab_cap. Remember cyberbullying and sexual harassment have long term life effects on victims and perpetrators may face police intervention and criminal charges.

Principal Rojas and Assistant Principal Velez have visited 9th grade health and 10th grade English classrooms to give a presentation about our EHS Community Expectations, the behaviors we have observed over the last 3 weeks, and sexual harassment. We are currently investigating these accounts and the students involved.

Immediately, we direct that all students disengage in liking, following, and commenting on these accounts and their posts. Consequences will include:

  • Parent contact/conference
  • Suspension from school
  • Any Athletes or ASB leadership students following or interacting with these types of accounts will be removed from participation and membership.
  • Any official school club or organization accounts found following these types of accounts will lose their club charter and be prohibited from school activities.

Parents, please talk to your child about appropriate online behavior and the impact of bullying and harassment on others.Be an UPSTANDER - See Something, Say Something, Do Something!

Attendance Procedures

Student attendance is an important part of student success! Missing any class time means missing out on vital instruction and learning. We hope to see every student every school day!

Attendance Hotline: 925-551-4040 x4806

If a student arrives to school 15 minutes after Period 1 (or 0 period if enrolled in a class), the gates onto campus will be closed and students must check in to Attendance Desk at the Main Office to enter the campus.

If a student is absent, their parent/guardian (not the student) must notify the Emerald Attendance Secretary of the reason for the absence within 48 hours of the absence (CCR, Title 5, 306). Whenever possible, please report the absence on the same day of the absence or in advance of the absence (in cases such as known travel plans).

To report an absence:

Call the Emerald Attendance Line at 925-551-4040 x4806 OR log into your parent portal, click on "more", click on "absence report". This will take you to the page where you can put the information in regarding the absence.

Leave the following information:

  • Student's First and Last Name (spell last name)
  • Student Grade Level
  • Student ID
  • Date(s) of the Absence (if only part of the day, please specify the time arriving or leaving)
  • Reason for the Absence
  • Name of Person Reporting the Absence and their Relationship to the Student

If a student is absent and their parent/guardian has not reported the absence reason to the Attendance Secretary, a reminder will be sent to the parent/guardian via automated phone message, email, portal message, and/or text (if parent/guardian has enabled this option in Parent Portal).

Regardless of the reason for the absence, schools do not receive funding for the student on the day that the student is absent. For more information, please visit:https://ehs.dublinusd.org/apps/pages/index.jsp?uREC_ID=467265&type=d&termREC_ID=&pREC_ID=906196

Bike Racks

MORE BIKE RACKS ARE ON THEIR WAY!!!Bike racks are located outside the Gymnasium at the east end of the parking lot. You may also secure bikes to the school fence along the sidewalk behind the gym and locker room. They are first-come, first-serve and under a security camera. Please wear helmets and use your own bike lock to secure your bike. Please do not secure bikes to tress, lamp posts, or residential property.
